Our Community
Many people do not realise that the Poppy Appeal is completely separate from any RBL Club, Branch and Women's Section.
- The Stow RBL Branch Committee provides welfare and social support for our local, Serving, ex-Serving community and their families.
- The Stow RBL Women's Section fund raise for Branch and Poppy Appeal occasions. The Women's Section will be unfortunately closing in October 2016. The Poppy Appeal will miss their contribution.
- Our RBL club was located in Well Lane, Stow on the Wold. It ceased in 2015 and is now a Social Club. The social club is a business and separate entity. If you would like to contact the social club, please call: 01451 830242
About Stow on the Wold Poppy Appeal
Each year the people of Stow on the Wold and surrounding villages, in our district, support our Poppy Appeal by collecting in our Market Square, Supermarket, and through House to House collections.
We are going from strength to strength, having broken all records in our 2011 appeal, raising a staggering £13,000 and then breaking this in 2014 with a mind-blowing £15,262!
The money donated is Stow on the Wold's donation to the National Poppy Appeal. Funds are sent direct to the Legion HQ, in Aylesford ,in order for the Legion to support their beneficiaries.

The Poppy Appeal in Stow district is organised by 31yr old Fashion Stylist & Journalist, Sarah, who began the role in 2010. Sarah joined Stow on the Wold RBL at the age of 17 as a Youth Member and became the first Youth Member to join Stow's Branch Committee. She served thirteen years on the Stow RBL Branch Committee before ending this in 2015.
Sarah's involvement with Stow on the Wold RBL was certainly a family affair. Joining the Branch, Sarah followed in the footsteps of her Grandfather, Harold, who carried the Branch Standard for some 30 years before he passed the role onto Sarah's Father, who has now carried the Standard for the same amount of years and is the longest serving Branch Committee member.
Sarah says; "I spent my childhood in Stow RBL Club house, whether Scottish dancing to St. Andrew's Pipe Band, after Remembrance Sunday, or attending many parties and family events. When I grew up, I understood the great work of the RBL and the charity became very important to me. After spending a while writing letters to friends serving in Iraq and Afghanistan I decided to take on a more active role as Poppy Appeal Organiser. It is a privilege to work with the community to support our brave Serving and Ex-Serving people and their families".
Sarah has since moved to Chicago, USA, but will continue to take three months unpaid annual leave to run the appeal in Stow.
